Fall Simple Eats

Spiked Hot Apple Cider

November 15, 2015

The day I tried spiked apple cider was the day I discovered the true flavor of fall. While working at my previous job, I was introduced to a very delicious and strong way of drinking the blood of ripe apples, AKA apple cider. My team had a tradition of “Whiskey Wednesdays”, but since we wanted to feel the spirit of fall, we decided to get a nice bottle of dark rum to make the cider happier. I’ve never tried the drink before, so I was very excited. We created a make-shift kitchen at my desk with a propane burner, pot, cups, and a ladle. Typical items you find in an office, right? After a few minutes of warming up the cider, we ladled ourselves a cup of the sweet stuff, along with a healthy pour of dark rum. The flavors of this warm, sweet cup of cider are indescribable. If you’ve never had it, you have no idea what you’re missing.
